    Ernesto Moralez

    Dr. Ernesto Moralez, an esteemed Assistant Professor of Public Health and a Certified Health Education Specialist, is a prominent figure in public health education. His roots in New Mexico have been instrumental in shaping his dedication to the field, where his tenacity and commitment have led to notable achievements in public health.

     

    He was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in a family rich with cultural diversity. His mother, a Mexican immigrant, and his father, a Social Work graduate from San Jose State University, played significant roles in molding his professional motives and personal virtues. This multifaceted upbringing has been a cornerstone in shaping his perspective and approach in his career.

     

    His academic journey began at Albuquerque Technical Institute, now known as Central New Mexico Community College. Initially pursuing Sociology at Hunter College in New York City, his path took a turn when he enrolled in an "Introduction to Epidemiology" class at New Mexico State University. This course sparked his interest in public health, leading to a Bachelor's degree in Human and Community Services in 2007.

     

    Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, Dr. Moralez smoothly transitioned into NMSU's graduate program, earning his Master's in Public Health in 2009. His dedication to public health was further exemplified by his summer internship at the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, where his work contributed significantly to his graduate thesis. His educational journey reached a significant milestone in 2015 when he completed his Ph.D. in Health and Behavioral Science from the University of Colorado Denver.
